Last week, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) opened its new Morocco Genebank in Rabat. The state-of-the-art facility maintains and shares a unique and remarkable collection of wheat, barley, chickpea and lentil diversity from the region and beyond.

In this Q&A with Athanasios Tsivelikas, manager of the ICARDA Morocco genebank, learn more about how the genebank is making use of its collection and collaborating with plant breeders to develop more resilient crop varieties that enhance food security in the dry areas and beyond.
