Nora Castañeda-Álvarez

Nora Castañeda-Álvarez is responsible for the management of the Seeds for Resilience project at the Crop Trust. She collaborates with partners in Ethiopia, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria in improving their genebank operations, infrastructure, staff technical capacity and linkages with users.

Nora studied Agronomic Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bogotá, Colombia) and completed her PhD in biological conservation at the University of Birmingham (UK).

Before joining the Crop Trust, she coordinated research projects in silvopastoral systems in land degraded areas of the Colombian and Peruvian Amazon. She also led research projects on crop wild relatives geographical distribution and conservation status.

Her scientific interests focuses on maintenance, conservation and sustainable use of agrobiodiversity.
